The Day I Went To War: 5 ~ From The Left Fork

Never

Had a thought

That

A bib

Would be

A drive

And

A habit

While being served

Gravel

And mash

A tumbler

Full of spite

With a wardrobe

Behind you

The door

I spy

Ajar

Message on arrows

Fly

From

A window

As you stab

Again

The grizzle

From the left

Fork

The Day I Went To War: 4 ~ When The Thunder Grew Close

I laid waste

Covered

The trenches

With

Every ounce

Of blood I had

Thicker

Than water

Doubled

As

A duvet

When the thunder

Grew close

Shudders

Now shellers

Given

Punch drunk lines

As the enemy

Slept

Hallo

Is there anyone

Left

The Day I Went To War: 3 ~ The Book

The curtains

Drawn

To keep true

You

In carton

With the rest of

That expired milk

In helium

In Herculaneum

On the brink

Sat on the sink

Overdue

I scribbled

Your image

Opaque

On a page

This

You said

Could be the end

Of this

Cold Cold War

If anyone

Would bother

To look up

From

The book

The Day I Went To War: 2 ~ Explosives

I peeled

Back the shell

In shock

As the powder

Left it’s cold

Metal

Room

Flitting

Like candlelight

To the floor

I saw

Glitter

At 3:15 am

As the foundry

Made paperwork

I watched

In

Microcosm

A firework

The Day I Went To War: 1~ In The Crosshairs

In the crosshairs:

I wrote a speech

And understood

Where

The surplus

Was being hidden

Or held

In ransom

To starve the enemy

The one

The target

The goal

Solely

Contemptuously

Wholey

Held

In the crosshairs

Studio Renovations

I have done some serious rethinking!!!

Made a few
Vignettes
Along my way

The last week
In progression
Is a thing
Of the past

Tried
Myriad
Of
Configurations

I knew
The only way to salvation
Was
Minimal
Minimalism
And
Floating
Furniture
To release the jesses
So we
Can
Fly

I directed
Dust
And stain
With
Tub
And brush
Uncovering
The hidden
Treasures

Let them go
While I prepared
For more substantial
Finials
And
Flourishes

Untangled
A years worth
Of camouflage
And let
Those elements
Climb
And thrive
In
Newer nests

The day was ending
And my cup was full

Ready
Really
Ready
For the next moves

Before the torrent

After bliss

Settling images
Into places
Some
Very temporary

Others
Landing proposals
And staking claims
As
An army
Of resolve

What’s next?
The lil desk from our porch
Gets a full clean and emptying
Putting
Me in relax mode
For today…

The Studio
Has taken a new breath.

Anyway You Slice It

Its grief

That tethers

You now

To the light

To the dark

In the gratitude

That howls

For its changed orb

Obtuse

Abstract

Unyielding

And feathered

Just waiting

In the next

Knife

Fight

Studio Organization ~ Den of Paint and Suffering

Still finding pockets of art/craft/enchanted items
That
Really belong
No where else
    Than the studio…

Which means
Every week
I go up thinking
Time to paint…
Only to realize there’s yet another
Bulk dump
Of stuff to sort and put away
Poop!

Trying to make sure that
Absolutely anything
That isn’t in a category
Belonging to this space
Gets either sorted into its proper place
Or tossed

It’s working!
It’s working!

Even when I’m not up here
I am jotting down
The itemized moves
Like a slow motion
Large Scale
Tetris game

The windows and mantle

Moving some plants into place

Cozy…
Why don’t I have the “fire” on???

This cool desk setup…
Ed got me for Christmas
Can’t you just picture
All of the sewing machine projects
Or
As the large portion on the left tilts up
For computer work
Could be utilized as a drawing or painting easel!
Trying to hustle with getting some stuff settled
So I can
Get something started
ASAP

Just one of the lunches taken here in the studio while preparing for the full throttle organization…

Omg are those kettle chips! Mmmmmm… hungry… and a cup of tea! That’s the one drawback to having the studio upstairs…
Maybe I should keep an old kettle up here for tea, and a few pantry items… Or a mini fridge full of iced coffee… oooooo! Mini kitchen? Hot plate and microwave lol! Over the top!

It reminds me of visiting friends at their studios… big old creaky wood floors, a maze of hallways barely lit at night… next to the river by the old grammar school… just a futon on the floor and candles… doc martens and black cardigans… red lipstick and paint everywhere… push pins with every kind of inspiration and bits of journal entries, like an altar to creativity… I remember the smell too. Metallic hints from strong paints and supplies, incense, cigarettes, old wood, and hints of dust on old radiators…

Until Next Time,

The Words

Books

Shovels

Sweets

Sustenance

Lulling the strong

To an everlasting sleep

In a bed

Made crisp

With

Newly washed promises

Do you keep

Your glass half empty

Next to the slumbering

Behemoth

Modernistic mosquito net

Letting all of the nano

Pages

Sites of the criminal intents

And

Radio

Frequency

In

To the virtual

Sculpture studio

That chisels

The importance

Of words

You Never…

Meant much more

Dug a bigger hole

Rolled out

Even a blue carpet

You

Sang about trains

Made papers

Splashed around

As the rest

Chewed

Gum

Or cardboard houses

Leaning out of

Gear

Tinted views

In carried windows

As the sun

Kept setting anyway

I WANT MORE!

Delicate blend

Of wait

And get over here

I’m not done yet

Broad shoulders

In a little coat world

I’ve shrugged it all off

For the kaftan of opportunity

Release finally felt

In robes

Stitched from

The threads

Left behind

The comet

From years gone flying by

And drinking

From a new cup

Filled

To the brim

With

Galaxies

Backing the way

Window

Visual

View

Without blinds

Blinders

Shades

And all

All the alls

Unshackled

With the wind

That blows

Us to each other

Pathway

Gateway

Window

To the authentic

Synchronicity

Within

Those walls

True Voices Get Loud

 Penned

In perpetuity

Either stone

Or grave

The school

Remains the same

As we take our delicate

Disturbance with us

Packed

With a pickle

Cold drink

And plenty of cloth

To sit

Picnic

While we dry

All of our eyes

Fire- A Poem for New Years

Fire needs air to burn

You keep blocking

The wind

The sailing

Cleansing wind

In your

Neolithic attempt

At drop in care

A scornful band aid

Looking to complete

The scar

After all things

Belittling

Had left

The building

An enclave

A cave

Alert

To hindsight

Only
