I was thinking of sorting through some decorations yesterday to start the festive month off… BUT

We had quite the storm the night before…

Heavy but tossed to the ground!

I had to put the wreath the right way around…

Maybe the wind blew it down the other end of the blog…?

Had to move the bike

The bike that no one wants

Living in our cellar…

Oh the carnage!

Across the street there were several leaner trees 

All caught up in the trees next to them…

The men with the biggest chainsaws came out in service!

To cut the smallest of trees, that could have killed somebody 

As they drove down the street.

Luckily no one was hurt…

And the crew that had just come through the week before to preemptively trim the dead standing just feet from these

Murder weapons…

 I guess maybe they weren’t wearing their glasses that day.

Right.

Oh well.

That’s all fodder for the whatever right…???

Thanksgiving 2021

 

   Well this is the pic that the DoorDash 

Driver sent us 

As they left us our Feast 

Of Asian Cuisine 

Stating that they liked our lights… 

It’s not super obvious 

But

We do have festive lights 

24/7

Mostly because 

We would only have the front door light

And one motion sensor light 

In the dark dark woods

And if you want to walk outside without tripping… 

Anytime after 5pm 6 months 

Out of the year…

Well

You get it

Our neighbors think it’s entertaining…

Charli girl has a big bed in the front room… 

That will be turning into our only room with a tv…

The need is great

To organize our rooms now

To accommodate 

What may now be 

A monthly occurrence 

Of needing to quarantine 

Because of exposure to Covid 

So a new guest bedroom is being configured 

An actual bed has been ordered…

And Charli girl doesn’t like to climb stairs anymore…

So having a tv room upstairs just seems lonely without her.

We finally got our leak fixed from the bathroom upstairs 

When we get out of our quarantine state 

We can get our drywall patching supplies…

Etc…

It actually snowed yesterday 

Lookit 

So pretty 

Just think

It was just a few days ago

That I finally got that that 

Serbian Pine 

In the ground

After it had sat in its nursery pot

For two years 

Looks good tho…

The power of plants

Fingers crossed it settles in 

And enjoys the dirt over plastic lol

Trying to have as much gratitude 

As possible 

Keep perspective 

And keep going 

Big house shuffle is coming 

Must streamline the needs

So the mess

Causes less stress 

How was your thanksgiving?

I’ve Canceled Christmas!

 Last week~

I felt as though I could have taken the bevy of faux Christmas trees we have here in storage, and made menagerie types of vignettes around the house …

This week~

Know thyself! I’ve been operating under a mountain of troubleshooting with a serious lack of resources.

How can you be entertaining the thought of pulling all that junk out, setting it’s dusty faux foliage all over the place, only to have to clean it all back up in a month? 

The resolve~ 

Hygge ~ a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being. The internets will detail this as simple as: 

• Light Some Candles. Ask any Danish person, and they'll tell you that the easiest way to create a hyggelig atmosphere is with candles (I can definitely commit to this)
• Light a Fire. If a tiny candle flame is cozy, a fire is even cozier (on it!)
• Put on Comfy Clothes (yes, absolutely, getting my sweaters out now)
• Take a Walk (working on this one)
• Share a Meal (crock pot is ready)
• Drink Something Hot (we have topped off our tea and cocoa supplies)
• Read a Book (I have one ready to go)

This shouldn’t be a downer. 

Sometimes not doing something that will drain a limited amount of reserve, is for the greater good of the self.

So instead of~

Wrestling heaps of decor, and fussing with the dusty placement of one thing or another… letting the idea of nostalgia, drive the syphoning of a very small bank of energy… in this situation, we find ourselves in a toxic relationship with obligation.

Is it just the fact that there are holiday decor pieces, here, in storage, that makes one think~ let’s get them out!!! Because the dates on the calendar demand that we must add to the already festooned nest you inhabit…

I like the idea of the whole deck the halls thing, don’t get me wrong… Jenny loves a holiday! But… and my but is big… it is.

I need simplicity. 

I think about how simple, lighting a candle and snuggling up would be. 

The outrageous concept ~

Just skip the menagerie.

I also love a challenge. So I get the cozy, just none of the “work”.

Anyone else coming to this realization?

November Resurrections

Can I finally be on the razors edge 

Of figuring out

How to get back to my enthusiasm 

For being…? 

I may have heard a rumor 

That there’s a map

To the actual map

And at least that’s a thing…

Anyway 

As the allergies begin to fall away 

And the light increases as we lose the leaves

The humidity flees

And the clothes 

Oh the jackets, boots and hats!!!

Cozy hoodies and sweaters!!!

I feel my strength filling back in!!!

Did y’all have a Halloween?

Samhain?

Last harvest in the northern hemisphere?

Good time…?

We had a little time off, and relaxed

And built a thing, then it got crushed by a tree

Ate some sugar

Painted a wall

Both headlights burnt out on our car

Watched some old spooky movies 

Tried to get plants in the ground 

Got our wood stove serviced finally 

Put on makeups

Ate more sugar

Omg fully realized the potential of the faux Ivy 

Now we’ve put most of the Halloween away 

Even though I really want our full house decor theme

To now be inspired by 

The famed Highgate Cemetery in London 

Did you know that for under $20k you can buy a plot in that famous cemetery to have your final resting place…?

Well y’ can!

It’s a chilling prospect to aspire to…

And while we are thinking “chilling”…

I will set up our bird feeders today… 

Cuz it’s “chilling” out…

Novembers icy bouquet 

Hangs on the goldenrod as

False blooms

Yet so beautiful 

You crave the image

With the overwhelming fury of 

HOW CAN THIS BE SO INSANELY PRETTY!?!

I just want to wrap my hands 

Around it and crush it!!!

Lol 

Speaking of plants …

I found a bin 

In our basement…

That wasn’t labeled… *gasp*

So I slowly

Released the latches of the stiff plastic lid

And peered inside 

Expecting, I thought 

To find that one missing bin of Halloween items 

The bin that might contain the special orange light bulbs 

That I had been having no luck finding 

And then I saw it

Pale green and languishing 

Stretched thin 

And covering the inside of the bin with perspiration 

Was a pot of Canna Lilies 

I thought they had died 

In a frost

Two years ago 

And there they sat

In the dark 

No light 

No water

Just waiting 

To be discovered 

And I will pot them in fresh soil

And take great care of them indoors for the winter 

And see what happens…

The power of plant energy 

Is fully amazing 

If I don’t forget again

That they’re down there…

Until they’ve taken over the basement

And start sending shoots up through the floorboards 

Eventually leading to their amassing an army

Of plant kind

Which eventually takes over the planet…

Or something like that

Ooooo then the whole world will look like the 

Cascading planty lushness of the 

Famous Highgate Cemetery 

In London

Love it 

Get your hats and gloves on darling 

Because we are heading to the graveyard for a walk…

Xmas is coming 

Do y’all get excited about decorating?

Maybe just putting them all up

With just lights on them…?

I’ve seen some fun colored ones… 

From Target 

I can picture just an all red tree 

With either all red ornaments 

Or all white ornaments like a candy cane…

Maybe just slap a Santa beard on it and belt 

With boots at the bottom… lol

Can you tell that the playful side 

Is trying to find its way back…
