Winterizing The Gypsy Porch!

BOOM!

It is Winter...

There's some Snowy Landscape Amazingness...

And some Cold Temps!!!

Doesn't stop me from drinking Iced Coffee tho... ha!

Anyway...

Remember our Porch when we first moved in...

Almost a whole year ago!

Gulp!

The first incarnation...

We caught all of those first warm spring day rays...

Lounging, as one does...

We watched the sun rise...

And we had some spooky times...

Now to keep the snow and wind out...

We must do a lil winterizing!

We got some clear shower curtains...

We popped out the screens...

Wrapped the plastic around...

& popped them back in...

Dodging Drafts already!

We got two rolls of this Moisture Barrier for Floors to cover 12' x12'...

So Shiny!

We found a basic rug layer on super sale at the Lowes...

19 Cents a square foot...

We are intending to beat the crap out of this rug...

Doesn't have to look pretty...

Just has to go to the edges, & help retain a lil warmth...

And of course I'm going to layer lots of other rugs on top!

lolz

Charli likes it... all that matters.

We made just some simple scissor cuts to wedge the carpet layer into the corners...

Not intending it to be a permanent addition to our Gypsy Porch Life ;-)

Testing some Heat Retention...

This ceramic Space Heater will come in handy...

When we want to Steal some Winter Time Porch Moments...

It is all coming together...

There's a lil Tree & better Table...

I think I'm almost done...

Maybe Curtains...

Y'know Jenny loves Curtains!!!

When we need a lil Get Away...

We can now Stay Cozy!

It's almost the Solstice...

You better get your Winter Holiday Azz in Gear!

Fall R & D Brekkie On The Porch

Happiness is a Fall Porch!

There is so much energy in the air this morning I can barely contain my excitement.

It's so sunny with a hint of warmth in the air...

Halloween is this Friday I'm brimming with ideas!!!

I need to take today by storm!

So I made up a filling brekkie...

GF Toast w/Pumpkin Cream Cheese & Dark Chocolate Chips!
(Designed to keep me away from the Halloween candy) ;-) wishful thinking...

Reaaaaaaaaaalllyyyyy Crispy Bacon!

One local Honey Crisp Apple!

ALL the Vitamins w/a Glass of Water....

And last but definitely not least...

CINNAMON COFFEE!!!!!!!!

So cinnamony that it makes me want to risk the palpitations & drink MORE!

& the gathered stack of R & D materials!

Today's productivity meeting:
I will be researching the cost & design of a few items I need for upcoming projects/events
& going thru any unfinished biz from last weeks busy list!

Sneaky Peek of what wickedness is coming this week!

There are a few more details yet to be photographed... ;-)

Until then ....

Don't forget:

If you don't steal your moments, the world will...

Early Fall Breakfast on the Porch

Remember that Gypsy Tent Porch Makeover I did...

Making the most of the weather before it's too cold to be comfy...

Feeling this aching need to eat brekkie outside...

AND... Pancakes are always a great idea!

Make Make Make....

I use unsweetened almond/coconut milk, didn't add honey or oil...

I did add a ton of ginger & cinnamon cuz I'm crazy like that!

Gathered up some boho sketching supplies....

Sage, feather pen(made by me), pencils, grease pencil(one of my fave things)...

Notice there's no eraser... Yeah, that's right, I'm that good ;-P !not!

Don't forget the cat....

Mr.Mars wouldn't let me forget...

Now I nom!

Take it from me the worlds leading expert in stealing moments,

If you don't steal the time for yourself, the world will.

Make your move,

Make some Pancakes,

Most importantly,

MAKE SOMETHING!!!

Gypsy Tent Porch Makeover

Nice weather = wanting to be OUTSIDE!

But there are bugs...

And living in close proximity to others = not a lot of privacy.... :-(

One lovely afternoon while having an icy drink on the porch with my Hubby, it hit us! The layout of furniture seemed so obvious to rearrange, & the big addition would NEED to be a mosquito net!!!

Here's a before-ish pic: after we had put the furniture in place.

One step closer to COZY! And bug free ;-)

I grabbed up all the sheer curtains I had (5), some twine, safety pins, & a trip to Bed Bath & Beyond to get a mosquito net (traditionally for a bed) the kind that will form a box shape when hung.

It's super easy to screw in the hooks it comes with...

I hadn't even finished yet, it was so inviting, I grabbed my drink, & guitar, & began the contemplation process for the rest of the design....

I took this old brassy chandelier that I had rescued from a junk pile ages ago, it was just waiting for a spray paint job, & some lights! And....

BOOM! We ran an extension cord out to the porch, & hung it all from a heavy duty plant hook. The mosquito net has a nifty split in the fabric on the top panel ( like they knew I would need it...)

We un-screwed some of the bulbs to give a more romantic feel at night...

I then added sheer curtains to soften the light that comes thru, & add privacy.

I used twine tied to a large safety pin to string thru the pockets of the sheers & hung them on the hooks that hold up the netting...

It's been the favorite place to sit & enjoy summer so far :-)

Stick with stars had to embellish the opening ;-)

Textures, fabrics, pillows, candles, sticks, rocks, flowers, and some feathers make the perfect bohemian hangout.

Now...
Get Outside & MAKE SOMETHING!

XOXO
