Winterizing The Gypsy Porch!

BOOM!

It is Winter...

There's some Snowy Landscape Amazingness...

And some Cold Temps!!!

Doesn't stop me from drinking Iced Coffee tho... ha!

Anyway...

Remember our Porch when we first moved in... 

Almost a whole year ago!

Gulp!

The first incarnation...

We caught all of those first warm spring day rays...

Lounging, as one does...

We watched the sun rise...

And we had some spooky times...

Now to keep the snow and wind out...

We must do a lil winterizing!

We got some clear shower curtains...

We popped out the screens...

Wrapped the plastic around...

& popped them back in...

Dodging Drafts already!

We got two rolls of this Moisture Barrier for Floors to cover 12' x12'...

So Shiny!

We found a basic rug layer on super sale at the Lowes...

19 Cents a square foot...

We are intending to beat the crap out of this rug...

Doesn't have to look pretty...

Just has to go to the edges, & help retain a lil warmth...

And of course I'm going to layer lots of other rugs on top!

lolz

Charli likes it... all that matters.

We made just some simple scissor cuts to wedge the carpet layer into the corners...

Not intending it to be a permanent addition to our Gypsy Porch Life ;-)

Testing some Heat Retention...

This ceramic Space Heater will come in handy...

When we want to Steal some Winter Time Porch Moments...

It is all coming together...

There's a lil Tree & better Table...

I think I'm almost done...

Maybe Curtains...

Y'know Jenny loves Curtains!!!

When we need a lil Get Away...

We can now Stay Cozy!

It's almost the Solstice...

Thanksgiving 2015: Aftermath Food Coma-Rama!

Time, Time, Time...

Has been in short supply!

So many fun projects in the works! 

I found this "Clear your mind of Can't" on the Pinterest...

Seemed appropriate for the amount of running around that has been happening...

Getting to the Holiday Decorating...

Taking down the Summer Curtains...

Found a moment to steal in the sun... 

Then these guys showed up lol...

Charli Girl says, "So What! Still nice out..."

Later that night, the holiday lights I strung...

Didn't even work...

LOL always test them before ya string em...

In the blink of an eye...

Boom.

Thanksgiving Morning.

Iced Tea, a Dog and Staying out of the way of Hubby who was cooking up a Storm! 

Explaining to Charli what was going to be happening this thanksgiving...

My Studio...

Has seen a lot of changes this fall...

I think I'm getting closer to making the change-over to Dining Room easier! 

I thought by Tuesday night I'd be this far...

LOL 

Nah. Think Thanksgiving morning.

Ok! 

Getting there! 

And just a couple of hours before people started arriving X-D

It was a whirlwind...

People came & ate...

& Lingered...

Good Times Had By All!

The Morning After 

Hydration...

Gluten free pumpkin bread from Trader Joes...

& Iced Coffee!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course!

Bunches of Lunches!

How can we even think of food??? 

After all that food!!!!

(This Turkey btw, that the Hubby cooked... Amazing! I don't know how he does it, but the meat literally fell off the bone!)

One of those chunky homemade Rye breads... 

Yum!

Root beer float time! 

TRADITION! 

From last year...

I can totally get behind this...

I mean, how often do you just have root beer in the house & ice cream?

& letting it go to waste is not an option! lol

Watched movies...

Kept blankets, pets and potato chips close!

The morning after the day after...

Still lounging... (for now)...

Lingering in bed with the buddies...

Getting motivated... 

To do something like clean and organize ;-) 

Looking forward to getting back to our version of normal...

Hopefully your Thanksgiving times were full of...

Friends, relatives, and chaos!

Late Summer Brekkie on the Porch!

The Day is Humid...

And Drizzle is a Constant...

With Downpours. 

"Am I dry now Mawma...?"

Our walk was cut short by a Pelting Rain...

So we "Stole Our Moment" on the Front Porch...

Brekkie, Coffee, & the almost finished Porch...

I feel like there's just one more thing missing...

Yoga Pants ALL Day!

For the Pure Fact that they make me feel like Anything is Possible...

And they make me feel like David Lee Roth! lol

While I "Steal My Moment"...

I Look to the Nets for info on the Appalachian Histories...

From the Cherokee to the Settlers...

I'm diggin in!

Playlists have been Made!

While I listen...

I think of how this New England Place will change so much within just a few more weeks...

Fall!

So Many good things to come...

Pumpkin Flavors...

Fests...

Halloween...

Thanksgiving...

And then there's the Sobering Task of The Ultimate DeClutter Project!

Another reason why those Yoga Pants are staying on ALL Day...

There are Many Yoga Mats...

And...

My Goal is to Pick the "one" and deck it out BMIY style ;-)

Porch Time! DIY Curtains from Sheets!

The First Day Of Spring Is This Friday!!!!

I am very excited to get back outside for lounging especially!

Having a Porch on the Front & Back of the House is Awesome!

Make the Most of these Spaces, if you have a Porch, Patio, Deck, GET TO IT!

This is was what I did to our Front Porch last Summer: 

CURTAINS MADE FROM OLD FLAT SHEETS!

So Cozy, & inviting.

Perfect for sunning those knees, or sipping Iced Tea!

This is the Dreaded Before. I was using it mainly to house some odds & ends, & it was Mega Handy to set up for all the Spray Painting I was doing last year....  Where to do it this year... hmmmm...

That's a Good Question.

Tools: Kilt Pin, Scissors, Twine! And...

Flat Sheet! Twin don't cut in half length wise, but Queen or King, cut that Bitch!

Best part is when you wash these, they will have a lovely raw edge boho fringe on one side!

Wo0t!!!

Cut a 1" hole in the top fold. This becomes your Pocket for Stringing & Hanging!

Since this Big Sheet has been cut in half one end of the fold is open. Tie some Twine on that Kilt Pin & String it THRU!

I Doubled up on the Twine because I know that Porch gets "Breezy".

I kept the panels separate from each other, using one doubled up length of Twine per piece, in case one needed to come down or get replaced, etc...

Tidied up & ready for Curtains. You can see how the Porch Ledge seems impossible to ignore.

This end is ready too! Hey, is that my finger in the shot? lol

Quick fix last year on these old weather beaten cushions in the form of a couple of table cloths.

Start Hangin! I used Large Brass Eye Hook Screws on the top edge of the ledge ;-)

Its HAPPENING!!!!

You can see the Seat Cushions covered w/Table Cloths.

OOOOOOO...... Looking Good!

My lil Spray Painting Area. Recognize that Storage Piece as our Drink Cart.

Perfect!

That Ledge isn't so in-yo-face as before!!! Wicked!

I used the same Eye Hook Screws under the Bottom edge of the ledge as well to try to hold the curtains in so they wouldn't blow over the edge in a storm. It worked perfectly until about November, and the curtains were being blown up & out far enough to Make it all the way onto the roof of the porch. Soaking wet & dirty, YUCK, I pulled it down and Scowled. Let them dry & took them down, laundered them & packed them away until... SOON! I will get out there & string them all back up again! YaY!!!

Poor Porch. I know We've been thru a lot this Winter of 2015. Hold on just a few more Weeks!

Our Gypsy Porch Fared much better. She will get a Spruce Soon as well!

Ahhhh... Memories...  I will Recreate you to my best abilities! 

And with a few Tweaks here & there I hope to GO FURTHER! 

I'm Definitely thinking of more Plant Life, and some incense. 

I know some of you live in places that have nicer weather, so...
